kgldsun Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Having just purchased a new samsung windows 7 laptop,I have tried in vain to open my old downloaded documents (works, word etc) that are now on my new laptop. All my old work was reinstalled on new lap top from a hard drive. I installed my old original 'work's and 'office xp pro' from disc and then when I open an old document i receive the MICROSOFT OFFICE window telling me its necessary to purchase or try etc. I would be so grateful if anybody can help. Many thanks in advance. Quote
KenB Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Hi I have looked around the forums and get conflicting results: The MS official response is that Office XP Pro is not compatible with Win 7 see here I have also read that some people have installed it no problem ............??? Take a look here and try Compatibility Mode click here There is another alternative - Open Office (free) click here You can, of course, have both on your system at the same time Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Synapse Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Office XP will install and run on Win 7, except the Outlook component does not work correctly. See here http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/is-office-xp-compatible-with-windows-7/abbe2f98-569e-4123-b0c7-2eb785f13315 installed my old original 'work's and 'office xp pro' from disc and then when I open an old document What happens when you create a new Word document? Is a new document opened or are you asked to purchase Office? Quote
