Re: Email

There are more than 2200 MS newsgroups. You missed a few.

As a backup, or for viewing?

For backing up:

Backup & Restore:

http://www.insideoe.com/backup/

How do I import OE5 and OE6 mail folders?

http://www.insideoe.com/faqs/how.htm#importOE5

How to back up and to restore Outlook Express data:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/270670

Backing up and Cloning your OE Identities:

http://www.insideoe.com/backup/clone.htm

For viewing:

To backup messages to a readable CD:

Create a folder on your Desktop, then in Outlook Express open the folder

with the messages you want to save. Highlight one message, then Ctrl+A will

highlight them all, (or hold the Ctrl button down while you select only the

messages you want), Now, drag and drop them to the folder on your Desktop.

(Easiest if the folder shortcut is on the Taskbar).

Now you can copy that folder to a CD and you will be able to read the

messages on the CD by double-clicking on them.

The downside of this is that messages that have the same subject will be

overwritten. To avoid this, purchase:

The details of how to do that depends on what E-mail program you use.

Since you haven't told us, nobody can authoritatively answer such a

question.

No, the unrelated groups in the cross posting was what I was thinking of.

"alt.binaries" ?? For an email question?

Ignorance can be helped; stupidity often can't. ;-)

open Outlook Express > select a folder > highlight all items in folder

"Subject" is used as the File Name.

"Received" date is used as Date Modified. (important so saved email can be

accessed by date).

Use CD software to copy C:\email to a CD. (I used Sonic Digital Media

Plus).
