Guest Scott Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 My 2-yr old HP laptop has a blurred and incorrect color (greenish) screen from time to time. It seems when I boot up the Windows, it works fine but after an hour or so the problem appears. If I switch off and use it next day, it works fine but repeat the problem after 1 hour. Can someone give me a guidance if the issue comes from hardware or software before I send to repair centre. Thanks, Scott

You might ask in a hardware, or laptop group for suggestions, before deciding on a course of action. -- Joe =o)

The most common cause of overheating in laptops is internal dust build up. You could try spraying canned compressed air through the cooling vents, and fan openings. If that doesn't work, the bottom cover will have to be removed. If you have an extended warranty, having it done by HP would be the best thing. If not, you could take it to a local shop that repairs laptops. If you want to remove the cover yourself, HP usually has the service manuals on its webside, that show the disassembly sequence. You may have to do some digging to find it. I've printed off several hundred pages of PDF manuals for my HP laptop.
