Guest MarcusB Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 In all windows 2003 servers we have possibility to use two parallel remote desktop connection plus one console connection. (mstsc /v:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX /console) On all our new Windows 2008 Enterprise servers we can only have one remote desktop connection, and it seems that it is the same as console connection. Should we activate some services to have the same possibilities in windows 2008? Regards MarcusB
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Re: Windows 2008 Remote desktop instances Hello MarcusB, The new REmote desktop uses the /admin switch instead of the /console. maybe that helps. Guest MarcusB Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Re: Windows 2008 Remote desktop instances What about two parallel terminal (RD) connections than. In old 2003 servers I can have 2 RD plus one console. I will also check the /admin switch. Guest MarcusB Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Re: Windows 2008 Remote desktop instances Whenever there is a remote user who use Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) client to connect to a Windows 2008 host, the local user is disconnected with the local console screen locked, with or without his or her permission. The same is with session. If there is already one session when connecting with second remote desktop the first session i broken. This not happen in Windows 2003. The Windows 2008 behave in my situation like Windows XP MarcusB Meinolf Weber wrote: > Hello MarcusB, > > The new REmote desktop uses the /admin switch instead of the /console. > maybe that helps. > > Best regards > > Meinolf Weber > Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and > confers no rights. > ** Please do NOT email, only reply to Newsgroups > ** HELP us help YOU!!! http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm > >> In all windows 2003 servers we have possibility to use two parallel >> remote desktop connection plus one console connection. >> >> (mstsc /v:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX /console) >> >> On all our new Windows 2008 Enterprise servers we can only have one >> remote desktop connection, and it seems that it is the same as console >> connection. Guest Meinolf Weber Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Re: Windows 2008 Remote desktop instances Hello MarcusB, And without any switches only starting mstsc and using the GUI? Are you then able to run 2 remote and one console session? Guest MarcusB Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Re: Windows 2008 Remote desktop instances Hi , I found the problem. It seems that Windows 2008 Enetrprise 64bit have “Restrict Terminal Service users to a single remote session” policy enabled as default eaven if it is set to "not configured". When I disabled it than I could connect to the second session. When I set it back again to "not configured" I could have only one session like before. Is it not strange? Thanks!!
