mahen Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 Hi KenB, No I don't get any beeps at all. Just fan working. Quote
KenB Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Hi, I would be inclined to take the motherboard connections back to the basic power connector and go from there. see here for details: http://kenspchelp.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=172 If you need any help with any of it just yell :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! mahen Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Pc problem I have removed eveything apart from power supply to mother board. But still no boop sound. There is no speaker in this computer. But fan is working. what could be the fault? Quote
KenB Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 There is no speaker in this computer You will not get POST beeps then :) With everything off the board ( apart from the 20(4) connector from the PSU ) add the video card and connect the monitor. Boot up. Do you get anything on screen now? Is this an actual video card or do you have on-board video ( direct from the motherboard ) ? Can you try the monitor on another system to check if this is OK ? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! mahen Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Pc Problem I have added the graphics card and nothing on the screen. Monitor is working with another pc. No on board graphics card. I haven't try this this graphics card on another pc. what are the test for Mother board. Or Processor? Quote
Synapse Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 If you have pulled everything and there is no sign of life, best thing would be to try with a different PSU. I'd be tempted to leave at least one memory module in, but no USB devices (as they can sometimes prevent boot). what are the test for Mother board. Or Processor? Correct diagnosis and replacement. Very much doubt the CPU is faulty. Does your video card have a heatsink and fan, or just a heatsink? If it does have a fan, does it spin when you power up the board? Ken, I don't think there is onboard video, according to this link http://www.pcmadd.com/MS-7187_pcmadd.pdf Quote
mahen Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Pc Problem I have added one memeory module and tried. But no sign of anything apart from fan. Graphics card only have heatsink. So next option is to try with another PSU. Need to find one now. Has to be campatable PSU? Quote
KenB Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Has to be campatable PSU? The PSU does not need to be the same wattage to test the basic system. It could be more or even less wattage. If your PSU has died then you would not want to replace it with a lesser wattage PSU. It is common for a PSU that needs replacing to spin fans etc but not have enough power to run the rest of the system. mahen Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 pc problem tried with differnt PSU, one memory module & graphics card. But no change. Just fan working. Quote
KenB Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Looks like motherboard. ( unless synapse has another option ? ) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
Synapse Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I tend to agree with Ken, the only thing I would do now is make sure the power is off and remove the BIOS battery for 30 seconds, to reset the BIOS, refit it and try again. No change I'm afraid your board is probably faulty. Quote
mahen Posted July 27, 2012 Author Posted July 27, 2012 pc problem no change after reset the BIOS. Quote
KenB Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 It looks like a motherboard problem. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
KenB Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I think the board needs replacing. Before you do so I would ring a local pc tech and ask if he has the facility to test it and how much it will cost. If your m/board does need replacing then there is every liklihood that the Operating System will need to be re-installed. If the board is exactly the same then you stand a very good chance of being OK. XP can undergo a Repair Install which will associate the OS with the new m/board and retain files etc. If you go down this route I would advise getting the files and photos etc off the drive before you start. This can be done with a HDD to USB adapter or external enclosure. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! mahen Posted July 30, 2012 Author Posted July 30, 2012 When replace the mother board, what should I look for? Compatable mother board. Quote
Plastic Nev Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Hi, if possible it would be best if you can obtain the exact same make and type, which from your initial post I found to be a Micro Star ms-7187. This is a Micro ATX type board. You may be able to find an exact replacement for sale on E Bay. If not as it may be out of date, a similar board will have to found, Synapse may be best to help with that if you cannot find the correct board, please let us know. I did find a full manual for the ms-7187 motherboard which will be of help when fitting a new one, have a look at the PDF here= http://www.pcmadd.com/MS-7187_pcmadd.pdf Nev.
