windows 11 Selected folder for background images displays no files

Greetings -I've been using the slideshow option for my desktop background for several years now and it has worked pretty well. Yesterday the slideshow stopped working - now the same images (dual monitor setup) are always displayed and never change (they had been set to change every hour). So I go to Settings > Personalization > Background and click the Browse button to choose a picture album. In the Select Folder window that pops up the path to my background images is correct but the file pane displays "No items match your search." If I navigate to other subfolders of the Pictures fo
