Windows 11 professional is corrupting some .BMP graphics files on an external hard drive (not SSD).

The files in question were created on a W7 computer using my microscope image processing software (only works on W7) and edited in Paint Net on the same computer, thence saved to the external hard drive. The W11 OS on two computers delete the entire contents of the files but leave the file name. The two W11 computers are a Lenovo Think Book G6 16" laptop FHD+Intel i7-135U 32 GB Windows 11 Pro 21KHJ00SVUS. W11 64 bit OS, version 23H2 OS build 22631.4146 and a Geekom IT12 mini computer 12th generation Intel Core i7-12650H 2.30 GHz, 32.0 GB installed RAM 64 bit OS W11 pro version 23H2 build 22631
