Steel series 9x to bluetooth adapter

I have a steel series 9x headset that works great for my xbox. I recently upgraded to pc but the headset seems very laggy. So I purchased the microsoft bluetooth adapter and got it all set up. Headset connected to the adapter but now I don't know how to set the audio to play through the headset. Do I also need to connect the headset to the pc via bluetooth then select it as the audio device as I did before?? Any help would be very appreciated.
