Why did an old email get a sign in code and why did it say I signed in at my IP at a time that I did not sign in?

Hello,I have 2 step sign in turned on and last month, I started receiving numerous emails with sign-in codes. All the attempts were unsuccessful (and were from all over the place). I changed my password very frequently at first (pretty much daily) and then I changed the way I log into my Microsoft account (so that old email that was receiving the codes should not even be associated with the account anymore.)This worked for a while but last night I received another sign in code to this old email, which should not be getting Microsoft emails anymore and is no longer an alias.To make matters more
