Guest Les Raics Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 My issue is that we recently had our Server SBS 2003 rebuilt and the IT guy now tels me that we have to rebuild the Server 2000 which we used as a Terminal Server rebuilt but we do not have the paperwork for the CALS. The company we purchased from has no idea where they are and the company which installed the Server 2000 Terminal Server is no longer in business. So, I know we have 5 Cals but I cannot prove it and I have lost patience trying to get sense pout of the Microsoft people on 132058. Can anyone help or am I up the creek? Thank you, Les
Guest Vera Noest [MVP] Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Re: Recover Terminal Server Licences I'm afraid that you are out of luck. Microsoft has no record of your licenses. If neither you nor the vendor has a record of the licenses you once bought, they are effectively gone. _________________________________________________________ Vera Noest MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net ___ please respond in newsgroup, NOT by private email ___ =?Utf-8?B?TGVzIFJhaWNz?= <LesRaics@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote on 20 okt 2008 in microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services: > My issue is that we recently had our Server SBS 2003 rebuilt and > the IT guy now tels me that we have to rebuild the Server 2000 > which we used as a Terminal Server rebuilt but we do not have > the paperwork for the CALS. > > The company we purchased from has no idea where they are and the > company which installed the Server 2000 Terminal Server is no > longer in business. > > So, I know we have 5 Cals but I cannot prove it and I have lost > patience trying to get sense pout of the Microsoft people on > 132058. > > Can anyone help or am I up the creek? > > Thank you, > > Les

No one can help you without it. I don't know your corporate setup, but you might try Tech Soup and see if you qualify for their program. If you do, you can may be able to get what you need. The cost is amazingly low. You could get a 2003 server license, CALs & TSCALs for chump change (compared to retail). The restrictions are tight, though. -- Regards, Hank Arnold Microsoft MVP Windows Server - Directory Services

Yes; it's for nonprofits only & you can't make regular/frequent purchases.
