How do I get my Copy and paste hotkeys function?

After updating recently I am no longer able to use the the copy function via keyboard at all. Notice if I select this sentence and hit CTRL+X and then CTRL+V twice, the sentence will be repeated. Notice if I select this sentence and hit CTRL+X and then CTRL+V twice, the sentence will be repeated. Now if I select this sentence and hit CTRL+C and the use CTRL-V this sentence will not be copied. Notice if I select this sentence and hit CTRL+X and then CTRL+V twice, the sentence will be repeated. notice that it can not copy? Well that's the thing.
