Guest wakaman Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Re: gpo question I have never had an experience install .exe file through GPO, I don't know if it is possible or not. But almost all software/apps will have an .msi installer if you inquire from the manufacturer. I found this link that have the .msi file ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/8.x/8.1.1/enu/AdbeRdr811_en_US.msi Also you can read more about it here: http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/pdfs/deploying_reader8.pdf
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Re: gpo question Hello dkblee, You can not install .exe with GPO. But if you Adobe reader, you will be lucky. It extracts the complete installation files to your harddisk before installing so you have the .msi on the harddisk and can use it for deeploying. We did it also this way. Just install it on a test machine and search for the .msi file. Also if you use the additional language packs or other updates for the reader, they will also extract to harddisk and you can use th .msi's. Guest Meinolf Weber Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Re: gpo question Hello wakaman, Unfortunaly you can not install .exe with software installation, you can use startup script's if the .exe file includes options for installation this way.
