Guest Cary Shultz Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Good morning! I wanted to ask what the general consensus is with respect to deploying the 'latest and greatest' Windows Desktop Search software running on Terminal Server. Just to be clear - my opinion is that it really affects performance (in a negative way). Assuming that others have the same opinion is there anything that can be done (outside of removing it...). Thanks, Cary
Guest anthonyx26 Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Re: Windows Desktop Search on Terminal Servers I'd agree that it's a negative. Worse yet, as I recall, I was forced in to installing it for Office 2007. If not, the users would be constantly nagged to install it. I hate all these stupid attempts at index based searching (ms, google, etc). They hog too many resources for something that only gets used once in a while. If you find that have to live with it, the best you can do is to minimize the stuff it indexes (see the options for it). - anthonyx26 "Cary Shultz" <cshultz@n0spam.outsourceitcorp.com> wrote in message news:Os15DlqMJHA.5692@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Good morning! > > I wanted to ask what the general consensus is with respect to deploying > the 'latest and greatest' Windows Desktop Search software running on > Terminal Server. > > Just to be clear - my opinion is that it really affects performance (in a > negative way). > > Assuming that others have the same opinion is there anything that can be > done (outside of removing it...). > > Thanks, > Cary
Guest Cary Shultz Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Re: Windows Desktop Search on Terminal Servers Anthony, I will do and will let you know how that goes. I guess that my follow question (rhetorical) would be - setting the options: per user setting or global setting? I will figure that out when I do this....
