Turning off sound for notifications is NOT working

I've turned off "Allow notifications to play sounds" and when that did nothing I went through every app and turned the sound off.Niether is working. W11 is still playing an annoyingly loud and irritating sound (Microsoft, for the love of anything good, please turn off ALL system sounds by default!! It's so annoying and unprofessional!). How do I turn off they absurd noises?! (note I listen to music from that computer, so muting everything is not an option)
