Geek Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 The fan on my mini is running full speed. The temps are normal so I don't think it is heat induced The fan just revved up and now it won't slow down. Has this happened to anyone and if it did how can I fix it? Quote
Tony D Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Usually folks want to increast the fan speed to cool the CPU. In your case, could it be that the fan is keeping the temp to normal because it's running fast? I have an older G4 Powerbook and sometimes that fan just starts going crazy. Especially if it's processing video. When I get tired of hearing the fan, I quit all applications and the fan gets back to normal speed. Make sure there are no ventiallation obstructions. A search for control fan speed on mac mini brings up a few apps to control fan speed. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Geek Posted February 27, 2010 Author Posted February 27, 2010 My G5 screams when I stress it. The mini seems to have quieted down. Maybe vmware fusion was causing it. I shutdown my Windows 7 VM since I installed it with bootcamp and now all is quiet again. Quote
