hi i have winXP SP 2 PC and my sister installed something for my desktop.

it's some pictures with moving glitters on it and i can't seem to remove it.

i've tried to remove it from add/remove programs, deleted the offline

contents, did a system restore, went to the c:\ and deleted the files,

deleted cookies and files and ran CCleaner and it's still there on my

desktop. i just want to remove it. does anybody here who can guide me? TIA!

right click your desktop, select properties, select the Desktop tab:

de-select your sister's Background choice. For instance, try [None]. OK.

If you have to allow your sister to use your PC, how about giving her a

login account of her own so that she can mess up the wallpaper as much as

she wants.

actually, she has her own pc. she was just using my pc at that time to

download some songs from my files.

i tried changing the desktop background (even to "none"), and it's still

there. it's just so annoying. i also tried going to the c:\ and went to the

windows folder and it says "offline" and all the description of the gliterry

pictures are back there. i've already deleted it and it's still there. it's

driving me crazy.

TIA!

Re: how oh how

There is a tedious but sure technical fix - a clean install of Windows.

Have you considered a political solution, like you get your sister's

computer until she fixes the thing she did to your computer?

It would be sensible to back up your data before trying either:

Two ideas:

- Right-click the Desktop, click Properties, "Desktop" tab, "Customize

Desktop", "Web" tab, deselect all.

- Right-click the Desktop, and turn off "Active Desktop".

My desktop properties has no "web" tab. Would it be sensible to

back up your data? I think so. Do careless people reinstall Windows

from time to time? I think so. Are you a careless person? I am.

Actually, it would be an excellent idea for me to work on that.
