Geek Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 <div class="KonaBody"><p><img src="http://osxdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/macbook-air.jpg" alt="MacBook Air" title="macbook-air" width="620" height="245" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-18730" /></p> <p>We’ve all been waiting for it, we’re seeing the <a href="http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/14/lion-ready-os-x-apps-appearing-on-mac-app-store/">Lion apps pop-up on the App Store</a>, and Lion has been said to launch alongside new MacBook Airs, so they must be due out any minute now right? Close, <a href="http://allthingsd.com/20110714/new-macbook-airs-coming-next-week-not-this-week/">AllThingsD</a> says their sources have confirmed the new MacBook Air’s are arriving “<em>late next week</em>” and to “<em>look for an announcement Thursday or Friday</em>“.</p> <p>Admittedly, AllThingsD’s article seemed a little vague, but before you jump to conclusions that they are randomly guessing, their executive editor Kara Swisher chimed in to directly address any skepticism in their articles comments:</p> <p><img src="http://osxdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/kara-swisher-confirms.jpg" alt="Kara Swisher Confirms the MacBook Air Speculation is Not Speculation" title="kara-swisher-confirms" width="601" height="247" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-18727" style="border:1px solid #ddd;" /></p> <p><em>“We never guess. You’ll see.”</em> is about as strong of a statement as one could make to address the doubters. To put some further bite into that language, All Things Digital’s Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg are known to have tipsters inside Apple, and have both even interviewed Steve Jobs directly on numerous occasions: <span id="more-18726"></span> <img src="http://osxdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/kara-swisher-walt-mossberg-steve-jobs.jpg" alt="Kara Swisher, Walt Mossberg, and Steve Jobs" title="kara-swisher-walt-mossberg-steve-jobs" width="620" height="354" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-18728" /></p> <p>AllThingsD also backs the information in a report today from <a href="http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/07/14/apples_macbook_air_refresh_may_boost_ram_ssd_specs.html">AppleInsider</a>, saying that the next weeks MacBook Air’s will include 4GB of RAM minimum with 8GB optional upgrades, and the 64GB SSD option is gone in favor of 128GB and 256GB models. Additionally, the new MacBook Air is said to offer three processor choices; Core i5 at 1.6GHz, Core i7 at 1.7GHz, and Core i7 at 1.8GHz, with each model gaining a glowing backlit keyboard.</p> <p><strong>OS X Lion Suffered a Minor Delay?</strong> Regarding Mac OS X Lion, AppleInsider further iterates their report from earlier in the week, that Lion was delayed at the last minute to address a problem with the Resume feature:</p> <blockquote><p>Although Apple is believed to have had some ambitions of launching Lion this week, at least one person familiar with the matter said earlier in the week that last minute concerns with one of the system’s new features (app Resumes) would likely cause a minor delay.</p></blockquote> <p>There has also been talk of a “GM2″ build of Lion that would presumably address any of these last minute bugs, but outside of whispers here and there, little evidence exists to corroborate such speculation. </p> <p>From Apple, all we have heard is that <a href="http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/12/os-x-lion-will-soon-be-available-as-apple-asks-devs-to-submit-lion-apps/">Lion will “soon be available”</a> and otherwise only that it’s due <a href="http://osxdaily.com/2011/06/06/mac-os-x-lion-release-date-is-july-will-cost-29-and-available-only-from-mac-app-store/">sometime this month</a>.</p> <p>Me? I’m just tired of the rumors, I want a new MacBook Air with Lion preinstalled already. </p> </div> <p><a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/v8OySKnQKV3y4MKWOOhbU96fNfI/0/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/v8OySKnQKV3y4MKWOOhbU96fNfI/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a><br/> <a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/v8OySKnQKV3y4MKWOOhbU96fNfI/1/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/v8OySKnQKV3y4MKWOOhbU96fNfI/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a></p><div class="feedflare"> <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/osxdaily?a=GX7ymNZeA_c:FWRXEDhkAQ0:yIl2AUoC8zA"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/osxdaily?d=yIl2AUoC8zA" border="0"></img></a> <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/osxdaily?a=GX7ymNZeA_c:FWRXEDhkAQ0:V_sGLiPBpWU"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/osxdaily?i=GX7ymNZeA_c:FWRXEDhkAQ0:V_sGLiPBpWU" border="0"></img></a> <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/osxdaily?a=GX7ymNZeA_c:FWRXEDhkAQ0:D7DqB2pKExk"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/osxdaily?i=GX7ymNZeA_c:FWRXEDhkAQ0:D7DqB2pKExk" border="0"></img></a> <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/osxdaily?a=GX7ymNZeA_c:FWRXEDhkAQ0:7Q72WNTAKBA"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/osxdaily?d=7Q72WNTAKBA" border="0"></img></a> <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/osxdaily?a=GX7ymNZeA_c:FWRXEDhkAQ0:qj6IDK7rITs"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/osxdaily?d=qj6IDK7rITs" border="0"></img></a> </div><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/osxdaily/~4/GX7ymNZeA_c" height="1" width="1"/> View the full article
