Best thing you can do is get yourself a copy of OSX and install it. Just make sure you get a retail copy and not an upgrade. Upgrades will only work if you have OSX already installed.

Ive tried two different ones one says its not compatable its 10.4 and ive tried tiger osx 10.4.5 i click it it says its resarting and then just reboots back into normal screen and does nothind.surely it should have come with an install dvd which i keep reading about.hut because its been nearly 5 and a half years i very much doubt contacting the shop will be futile lol.i dont even know how to format it as disk utilities wont highlight the format page? Its driving me crazy as ive always used windows which im pretty clued up on hardware and software wise.

My mini is the same year and I have 10.6 on it.

Are you sure you have a copy compatible with an Intel processor?

It sound to me like you are trying to install a PPC version on an Intel box.

Hi I've just installed Windows 7 on my MACMINI With "PARALLELS DESKTOP" It won't allow you to install Windows itself on external hd:( But you can install Windows software in it. I'm new here and I hope I'll find a lot of help and friends here:) Take care and welcome here:)
