XP is so much better than Vista. Why don't Microsoft just scrap the whole

Vista fiasco and stay with XP? IMHO XP is the best OS on the market. Superior

to all others. All replies welcome.

I personally agree that XP trumps Vista, but this is a group for technical

issues, and not a direct line to Microsoft - nor is it a forum for debating

"My OS can beat up your OS." Nobody here is likely to know what Microsoft

has planned, and posts like yours just invite flamewars. Stick to specific

technical questions :)

XP works for many.. Vista works for many.. Windows 7 will work for many..

MacOS doesn't work for quite as many.. Ubuntu even less..

So what? People use what they want to use.. it is not your problem..

First of all, I disagree with you, but that's not why I'm replying. My

point here is that this is a newsgroup for the purpose of providing

help for people with XP problems. Please refrain from posting messages

like that. It's inappropriate here, it wastes bandwidth, and it

accomplishes nothing.

No, but it certainly is a problem. When MS discontinues an OS and my

existing peripherals and possibly software won't work with the

replacement it is a problem, regardless of whether stating same is

appropriate or not for this group (and about which I care very little).

Ooooh, a self proclaimed net cop. You don't decide what is appropriate

or what isn't Mr. MVP. This is a GENERAL group, not a XP problems only

group.

With the advent of broadband, wasting bandwidth is a stupid thing to say.

This constantly repeated point is stupid. I care very little about your

mind, which is morassed in illogic. Why in the world would you expect a

software maker spend huge $$$ so that YOU can save money?

Bzzzt. This is a technical support newsgroup. It's not a place to rant

(fortunately, there are a couple hundred alt groups for that). MS has

already started murmuring that they may replace their usenet servers with

hideous web fora, which will be more prone to moderation & censorship.

Nobody wants that, I suspect. So let's keep it kosher.

Naturally, based on your own post, you're clearly aware that as you disliked

my post, your best course of action was to have simply ignored it.

Ross,

Remove Vista ASAP and install Windows XP. This should relieve the need to post

such a discussion topic. Post back if you require any assistance for installing

Windows XP Home, Professional , or Media Centre, especially if you wish to install

SP3 and Internet Explorer 7. Though it comes of no further assistance to you, XP's

superiority will be surpassed by, yet another Microsoft operating system.

Bzzzt, that's *your* definition. The sign on the door says "General"

which, to me, means anything about XP is on topic.

Take a gander at Vista General and you will realize that MS will replace

their Usenet servers with forums. MS already moderates and censors their

servers but they can't do a whole lot about other servers. With MS'

penchant for control, FUD and censorship, it's only a matter of time

before they nuke their Usenet servers.
