Guest Henrik Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 All, Suddenly, temp files with a .tmp suffix have begun to appear in various folders. It looks very much as if temp files associated with documents I've been working on haven't been closed properly -- the files have file name corresponding to a file I've been working on resently, adding some gobbledygook and .TMP. So, for instance, myfile.ppt would create one or more myfile.ppt~RFf097fa.TMP or similar. It has begun some 4-6 days ago. I've added a few software packages but no material changes. I have some 7.5GB free on a 65GB hard disk. Thanks in advance Henrik
Guest Bob I Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Re: .TMP files suddenly appearing everywhere? I would suspect your Anti-Virus software is the cause. Does it have some "Office addin" that can be disabled? Look through the Help in it. Guest Ray Parrish Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Re: .TMP files suddenly appearing everywhere? I doubt very seriously that your AV software has anything to do with it. It's probably the result of closing down the program abruptly without saving, have you had a crash while you had files open?
