Spybot Search and Destroy has a Advanced mode that provides a means to check dead links in the registry, it's never caused a problem on any computer I've used it on, and since I do a lot of application development work, installing updates, versions, etc... removing as many as I install, I find that the SBS&D tool to check the registry for dead items is a great tool and cleans out old crap well. -- - Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum. - Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented worker" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist" spam999free@rrohio.com (remove 999 for proper email address)

You will hear very few, if any, from people that know how to and bother to read how to use it most effectively.
