What could be the problem of replacing battery by someone else otherwise than Apple service?

From time to time, it's said it's not advised to replace the battery on your own, this is totally understandable if you are not a technician or experienced in this area. How about having battery replaced by someone else in small mobile phone shop who advertises this service, rather than Apple's service? What could be the problem? Is the installation of battery for iPhone more complicated than other non-Apple phones so it is often recommended to go for Apple service?
