iPhone mutes when on speaker, other party can't hear me

iPhone SE. During phone call, when in speaker mode the other party can't hear me. No issue with earphones. I've powered on/off, reset, wiped clean and set up iPhone as new, reset network settings. Do not recall if issue started after using earphones, cleaning lightning port, or with software update, or started randomly.

 

Could this be hardware issue?

 

Any advice appreciated.
