Hi,

My friend just started his business. There are 5 people working here including both of us. He bought a Samsung 2165W. He wants all of us to use this printer. What do we have to do? None of the PC's are on a domain. The printer has no ethernet jack. Do we just have to buy a router? Can we print via the ip address of the printer. We are using Vista. We installed the CD. We tried to install via USB. They wanted some numbers. We tried via WPS but we couldnt since there is no router.

To use the printer wirelessly you will need router.

Each PC should be connected to the router, either by wireless or ethernet cable.

Only then can you connect your printer wirelessly. The normal way to do it is to connect the printer to the router wirelessly, and then install the printer software on each PC.

The other option is the install the software for a USB connection only, and plug in the printer to a PC when needed.

You say you tried the USB option, can you explain a little more about what the installer asked for ie the numbers.

I dont remeber the numbers. I clicked on "Confgiure wireless settings manually". I chose a wireless network to connect to. And then I got boxes where I was suppose to enter numbers. One of them might of said SSD. Can I add the PC's to the domain. And then share the printer? Thanks for replying back.

Yours?

Can I add the PC's to the domain

What domain, who's domain?

And then share the printer?

You do not need to 'share' the printer, that is sharing in computer speak :)

Perhaps it is a good time to check what you actually want to do.

Do you want to be able to have any of the 5 PC's print whenever they need to without unplugging the USB printer cable from one PC to another?

If so, you need a router.
