Guest thalassocrazy@gmail.com Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 What should I do? ( Generic Host Process for Win32 Services hasencountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for theinconvenience. ) "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." "If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost" The above is the very annoying error message I am getting whenever I go online. If I click on any of the button, the online session stops, and I have to reboot the computer in order to get back online. I have checked the error on search engines, and found the following "possible cures" -- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/819017/ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894391/ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931852/ http://support.microsoft.com/?id=821690 Among which, that "cure" from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894391/ sounds similar to what my computer is doing. So I go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A87B44B9-7A6A-49B6-BD89-AFAD4E049C48&displaylang=en and download the file WindowsXP-KB894391-x86-ENU.exe file and then install it, and reboot. Well ... that damn annoying "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encou...." error still pops up ! What should I do next to get rid of this error? Suggestions welcome ! Thank you ! FYI -- My PC runs WinXP, SP3, with 4G of RAM, dual core cpu.

We are sorry for the inconvenience. ) Are there any problems indicated in the System and Application logs? Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in the System and Application logs in Event Viewer relating to the last boot in normal mode . No Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in a previous boot. You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important. A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer. -- Hope this helps. Thank you for your suggestion ! I have saved both the System and Application logs. Glancing at both files, I notice that the "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a prob..." incidents are listed the Application log, but not the System log. Checking further, I found out that all the "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a prob..." incidents have the same entry, as listed below: = = = ================================== Event Date: 10/23/2008 Source: Application Error Time: 2.54.47 AM Category: (100) Type: Error Event ID: 1000 User: N/A Computer: METALSHAVING Description: Faulting application , version 0.0.0.0, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000. We are sorry for the inconvenience. ) Have you recently made any hardware changes? Are there any other Event Viewer Error reports at or about the same time? Do the errors ocur during or after the boot process? Does the problem occur in safe mode? -- Hope this helps.
