iPhone security

Hi I wonder if anyone knows about this, its a bit unusual... I think someone knows where I am from my iPhone...

 

I discounted my suspicions for a while because I didn't know if it was possible but a bit of a search and I found Apps that track your OWN iPhone and I thought what is to stop someone registering mine as their own

 

I have got good reason to suspect this but it isn't someone I am worried about (maybe annoyed but he means no harm) but if he is, what would the App be using to track me? GPS? Location services? If I turned either off would it put a stop to it?

 

And when I upgrade to 4S next month will it carry over? Is it sim-based or phone based?

 

I know its off topic and slightly weird but any help would be much appreciated

Thank you very much for the link. It's not an option to turn my phone off when I'm away from home so I guess I learn to live with it

I believe other platforms have so many security holes already that they aren't worried about this one.
