Newly installed programs not highlighted on the Start menu

Im using Windows XP SP3.After reformat the HD recently,those newly installed

programs are not highlighted and prompted on the Start>All programs menu.I

have tried to customize the start menu by checking "highlight newly installed

programs"button under advance tag but it does not function at all. please

assist.Thank you.

Right click the Start button > Properties, on the Start Menu tab click the

Customize... button. On the Customize Start Menu box click on the Advanced

tab. Under Start menu settings click the box to check it before "Highlight

newly installed programs"

As Alan mentioned,I have already try the method and it doesn't work. Any

other ways,please assist.
