Guest rsl18@sbcglobal.net Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I had to do a destructive reinstall of Win XP, from the original CD, about a year ago, with the step-by-step instruction of a MS tech support person. He had me create a "temp" login username, which happened to have an icon of a couple of horse heads. For another reason, no longer operative, I created another login username, which has an icon of a toy racecar, I think. I now wish to get rid of these surplus usernames. For one thing, a lot of hard drive space is taken up with files for one of the usernames. I could simply delete the files for the surplus identity, but that is probably not the way to do it properly. How do I get rid of Windows login usernames? After I do so, I will then delete the duplicate files under the unwanted username, presuming that they will still be on the hard drive.

Control Panel>User Accounts Click on the account you wish to change. You will then see where you can delete the account. After you choose "Delete Account", you'll be given a choice of saving the account's files or not.
