Sorting the list of "all programs." How do I do it?

I hit the "Windows key"

There is an "All Programs" green arrowhead.

The displayed list does not seem to me to be in any sequence that I can

discern. Partially by date of installation, perhaps, as the most recently

installed programs seem to be at the end of the list.

I do want to have the listing in alphabetical order. How do I sort this

Re: Sorting the list of "all programs." How do I do it?

My result is that there are now two sequences of "programs;" (three if you

count the six entries that are above the line). The first lists from "ABBYY

.. . . " to "Yahoo Messenger" and the second goes from "Acrobat Distiller" to

"Yahoo Mail." All of the Adobe programs are in the second sequence, along

with such programs as Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Windows Media

Player, and a few others from independent developers.

I conclude therefore that the matter is not as simple as I had hoped when I

first read your reply. The result is better than the previous condition,

but there must be something that will do a strict sorting. Or maybe not.

Have you tried to drag & drop the remaining items to the locations that you want?

Sort By Name will put all items with a sub-menu to the front of the list, then the

other entries after those.

Re: Sorting the list of "all programs." How do I do it?

Are you organizing from the Start Menu?

That's bizarre, do it from Explorer:

"%UserProfile%\Start Menu\"

and

"%AllUsersProfile%\Start Menu"
