Guest Too Old Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I have XP Home Edition. When I right click on the Start button and sselect properties a window pops up. Then I select Taskbar and click on Customize. Another window pops up called Customize Notifications. It shows 2 lists.....current items and past items. On the past items list are programs I no longer have on my computer, but they are still listed there. How do I delete them from this list? Thanks.

Guest Ronaldo Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Re: Task Bar and Start Menu Properties Go to Start Buton\Run\write: "regedit" (w/o quotes) and hit Enter, next browse to the "TrayNotify" key following the registry path below, click on the TrayNotify key and on the right pane, double click on each reg_binary value named "IconStreams" and "PastIconStream", and delete the data (or delete the two mentioned keys), and restart the computer for the icons to disappear from the Taskbar Properties. Before any registry edition it is recommended to backup the registry key you are about to edit... you can do this with a right click on the "TrayNotify" key, and select "Export", select location and type a name for the backup file.
