Windows eventlog service not starting in windows 2008 server

We have a Windows 2008 Server 64-bit running Exchange 2007.

No Exchange services will start as they are dependent on the event log

service starting.

 

Error message

"Windows could not start the Windows Event Log Service on SERVER1."

"Error 87: The parameter is incorrect."
