Guest midwest_steve Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I have one server that I need to backup. I've configured the backup wizard to create a full backup each night, as our server is small (it is for a school with 20 users). The backup is written to a USB drive. I would like to test the restore and have some questions: Do I have to create an ASR disk to accomplish the restore? Can I simply boot into the recovery console and restore? If so, how do I mount the USB drive? Is there a good general strategy someone can point me to? I have searched but must not be using the right terms. Thanks you!

Do you use the SBS version from windows? Guest Isaac Oben [MCITP, MCSE] Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Re: Backup/restore strategy for Windows 2003 Steve, Please give us some details. Did you backup a file server or a domain controller? Also do you want to restore option if the server fails completely, or you are looking for a restore option for a server that is still in good functioning. Also did you use a windows ntbackup or some other backup utility. Isaac
