Guest /u/Salad_Fingers666 Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 So, last December, I finally hit my breaking point with Apple. After years of being loyal to the brand, I just couldn’t stomach the upgrade prices anymore. I mean, come on—how do they justify charging so much for a few extra cores and slightly better graphics? So, I did what any frustrated tech enthusiast would do: I built my own custom PC. I went all out. We’re talking a 4080 GPU, Ryzen 7950X CPU, 96GB of RAM, and 3TB of storage. This thing was an absolute beast, and I built it for less than the cost of an M3 Pro MacBook. For the past year, I’ve been deep in the Windows world—gaming, customizing, pushing my hardware to its limits. And don’t get me wrong, the power and flexibility were insane. But here’s the thing: Yesterday, I sold it. All of it. Why? Because as awesome as that rig was, it just never quite felt right. It was like owning a supercar that you have to tune every weekend to keep it running smoothly. Constant driver updates, random software glitches, and just that general sense that I was always managing something instead of using it. So, today, I walked into the Apple store and picked up a new M3 Pro MacBook in Space Black. And wow… I didn’t realize how much I missed the simplicity of this thing. Everything just works. No fuss, no tweaking—just pure, seamless performance. I opened it up, and within minutes, I was back in my groove, more productive than I’ve been in months. Yeah, it cost me more than my custom rig, but honestly? It’s worth every penny. I’m just glad to be back in the ecosystem where things are smooth, reliable, and, dare I say, enjoyable again. Anyone else ever make the switch back to Mac after a stint on Windows? Would love to hear your experiences! submitted by /u/Salad_Fingers666 [link] [comments]
