Guest /u/birdd0 Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 I currently have a 2019 16” MacBook Pro with an Intel i7 2.6Ghz, Radeon Pro 5500M 4GB, 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD. Now it’s doing ok, but I am considering upgrading to a newer M series MacBook. I am not as familiar with how the unified memory works, and the standard M vs M Pro, etc I am considering going with a refurb 14” M3 Pro (11 Core CPU and 14 Core GPU) with 18GB RAM, 512GB SSD its AUD $2969. Or I could go with a refurb 14” M3 (8 Core CPU and 10 Core GPU) with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD for AUD $2799. Or I could drop down to a refurb 14” M3 (8 Core CPU and 10 Core GPU) with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD for AUD $2549. Or I could drop even further to a refurb 13” M3 Air with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD for AUD $2039 I just don’t know if there is much performance difference between them, and where 16/18GB of Unified RAM is enough (after have 32GB RAM in my current MBP). Any advice is welcome as I am not familiar with the M series. I am also not in a hurry so could wait for the rumoured M4 series, but i assume the same difference between standard vs pro will apply and same with amount of RAM so advice should still be relevant i guess? submitted by /u/birdd0 [link] [comments]
