Guest John Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I have seen an more cases lately where files on a server share (2003 r2) say they are currently in use when this does not appear to be the case. I have had users complain about this as well. In some cases I am very doubtfull that someone actually does have them opened since no one else should even have right to open. Excel files and word files... maybe even some autocad files. any suggestions?
Guest Masterplan Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 RE: files locked Hi John, You can use Process Explorer to see which program has a particular file or directory open: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx -- Have a nice day! Guest David Shen [MSFT] Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 RE: files locked Hello John, I agree with what Masterplan said. If you want a command-line tool instead of the UI tool (Process Explorer), you may also consider using handle.exe: For more information, please refer to: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896655.aspx Hope it helps.
