If 2003 Server goes down what happens to other servers and mapping

Hello

If Windows 2003 Server Domain Controller goes down for any reason:

a)What happens to the servers that are attached as child domains and what

happens to all of the mappings to drives?

b)How do you make all of the child domain controllers that are attached to the

domain controller restore their connections and their mappings once the

domain controller is brought back up?

Hello JB,

Just to get you correct, you have a domain controller in domain.com and additional

DC's in subdomain.domain.com and subdomain1.domain.com? Or do you talk about

more then one DC in domain.com?

Best regards

Hello Meinolf

I am asking about one domain controller with subdomains but it is

possible that there is another domain controller in domain.com as well ?

Hello JB,

This question i can not answer, you are the admin and have to know the amount

of DC's you have in which domain.

Basically in a domain if the DC goes down and this is the only one and also

DNS /GC server, your users in that domain can not longer logon to the domain,

they maybe work locally with cached credentials.

Subdomains are having there own domain and replication and connections should

come back automatically.
