Between being aware of IPS panel limitations (some backlight bleed is inevitable), and the daunting prospect of having to haul such a big device into getting service (and the wait times associated), I put off doing anything for a long time. I put it off, trying to tell myself that I’ll get a new panel eventually, that it is not worth the hassle, that backlight bleed is unavoidable anyways. Let me tell you, don’t listen to that nonsense. Get it serviced! It was a breeze to use the Apple Support app and start a text conversation. Apple agent was incredibly friendly and helpful, not only offering someone to come pick up the monitor, but also explaining a bit of the technical reasons (fault adhesive) behind the issue and ensuring the replacement part was available for the service center. I ended up taking the monitor in to a shop rather than having them pick it up, and 24 hours later, the monitor was ready to be picked up. No cost, all under the limited warranty (even though I also have AppleCare+). It was a breeze, and the difference it makes is MASSIVE. I hope someone see this and finally takes the plunge to fixing their device rather than putting up with something that is “not that big of a deal”. You won’t regret it, and Apple’s support is truly top notch. submitted by /u/CipherSorcerer [link] [comments]
