Guest /u/ashoured Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Hey everyone, Quickly: This helps people who have a main address and want to change it to an alias of it that they already added before. To add aliases, navigate to the Mail settings in the iCloud section of the settings app. Advanced note: Your Apple Account itself, with purchases and files and so on, remains the same even if you change the address a million times. The address (something @ icloud . com) is only used to sign in, and receive emails, and it appears in many places, like right under your name when you open the settings and press on your picture. I wanted to change my iCloud address, and by that I mean the email address itself that appears everywhere (something@icloud.com) All I did was navigate to Settings, then Sign-in & Security, then tapped on "Add email or phone number." I then added the alias that I already have. I received a confirmation code on the email and entered it, and by that I added the alias as a new email address, like it was Gmail or something. Then I returned to Sign-in & Security, tapped on the newly-added alias, and toggled the option to make it "Primary Email." Finally, Apple did the magic; the alias became my main address, and my older mail address changed to be an alias! So it's all good. You may get signed-out after that, and Apply may require entering the password in many places for one time, like when you download an app or something, but only for once. So, now you can change your somethingbad @ icloud .com to somethingood @ icloud .com and still keep both. Thanks! submitted by /u/ashoured [link] [comments]
