Re: Windows Update error 0x8007007E

Hello Sandy,

As first try, stop the automatic update service and then delete the c:\windows\softwaredistribution

folder and start the service, then try again.

Best regards

Boy, you are on the same wavelength as me. I ran across that link and tried

that too. No luck there either.

Hello Sandy,

Which IE version do your run?

Do you run the latest installer package:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=5a58b56f-60b6-4412-95b9-54d056d6f9f4

Additional delete the content from c:\windows\system32\softwaredistribution

Re: Windows Update error 0x8007007E

Hello Meinolf,

We've got IE 7 on this server. We had version 3x Windows Installer so I went

ahead and upgraded it to the 4.5 link you sent. Tried updating, no luck. I

also went ahead and stopped the Automatic Update and BITs server and deleted

all the SoftwareDistribution folders too. After restarting the services I got

the same error again.

Thanks for the the suggestions.

Re: Windows Update error 0x8007007E

Hello Peter,

Thanks for the links. The Microsoft link appears to be expired. It sounds

like it might be able to help me too!

The second link I'll have to experiment with. It looks like it really only

targets Windows XP (I've got a Windows 2003 x64 server).
