This Mac always has been a beast and I wouldn’t prefer anything else. But I have to trade it in for a Macbook because I’m going to travel and work more remote. A bit of backstory what I do with this Mac: I’m a videographer/editor and use my Mac mainly for editing in Premiere Pro and After Effects. I work with big projects including multiple (10-15) camera’s (Sony, RED, etc.). I edit with 8K footage and a lot of effects. I also do some effects and rotoscoping in After Effects. Beside that no heavy 3D modeling or something like that. What to compare? Mac Studio M1 Ultra (€4599): 32-core Neural Engine 48-core GPU 20-core CPU 64GB RAM 1TB SSD vs Macbook Pro M4 Max - 14 inch (€3799): 16-core Neural Engine 32-core GPU 14-core CPU 36GB RAM 1TB SSD vs Macbook Pro M4 Max - 16 inch (€4899): 16-core Neural Engine 40-core GPU 16-core CPU 64GB 1TB SSD — I’m curious what y’all think about this. I have a feeling I’m losing quite a lot of power comparing the Ultra vs Max chips (less cores). Also doubting what is more important (GPU, CPU, RAM, Neural Engine)?
