Guest /u/twalker294 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 The primary heavy lifting tasks that I use my Mac for are video editing and photo editing. I have been considering switching away from Premiere Pro to FCP or Resolve so tonight I was benchmarking each one. In doing so I noticed that none of them are utilizing anywhere near all cores in my machine (base M4 mini,) and FCP isn't even utilizing the GPU at all. I would think that video export would be one thing that would utilize as many cores as possible in order to finish the export as quickly as possible. When I am exporting with Premiere on my Windows PC it is utilizing 100% of every core as well as 90-100% of my GPU. However despite this my Mac is still faster than my PC at video export. Is there anything I can check in my system that might be throttling CPU utilization? I have checked each piece of software and made sure hardware acceleration is enabled as well. submitted by /u/twalker294 [link] [comments]
