Guest /u/hearme100 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 So I have M1 Pro MacBook Pro (16GB Memory and 1TB SSD) and I just picked up a brand new base M4 Mac Mini (16GB Memory and 256GB SSD) mainly to render videos using Davinci Resolve. Based on everything I have seen. The newer M4 chip should be faster or similar in performance than 3 year old M1 Pro Chip. But in my real world use case its performing terribly on the new M4 Mac mini. Note I have updates software on both MacBook Pro and MacMini to macOS Sequoia 15.1. Reference: Apple M4 (10-Core) vs M1 Pro: performance comparison These are the video rendering results I am getting using Davinci Resolve 19.1 on both machines: M1 Pro Mac Pro Rendered in: 8:58 | 8:55 - I did 2 tests New M4 Mac Mini base model Rendered in: 12:28 | 12:34 again did 2 tests... Any idea as to why is this happening ? I was expecting similar or better results from the M4 Mac mini. But new Mac M4 Mini is 40% slower. The multi-core Geekbench scores on M4 chip were definitely higher than M1 Pro. submitted by /u/hearme100 [link] [comments]
