Guest /u/BadWithMoney530 Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 My 2017 MacBook Air i5 suddenly wouldn't turn on. I brought it to the Apple Store and they did a few tests, and they said it needs a new logic board. Of course they quoted some ridiculous repair cost, like $450 or something. I looked on eBay and I can get a used logic board for $100. However, the Apple employee said something along the lines of "You need a new logic board, or a used one that has been factory reset by Apple. The device will not work if you just buy a random one" Is this true? None of the eBay postings mention a reset of any sort. I don't want a new laptop, I really don't do anything crazy on it. Watch some YouTube videos, write some essays, etc. So I don't need anything new or fancy. Just wanna keep this one running as cheaply as possible submitted by /u/BadWithMoney530 [link] [comments]
