Guest /u/yodeez101 Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Hey all, I have run my iPhone 13 on silent mode since I got it (2 years ago). For a couple of reasons but the main being I fkn hate notifications interrupting my music. Additionally it meant I never had to worry about my volume being ‘ring/notification volume’ or ‘media’ Lately I’ve been missing reminder notifications more than I’d like and additionally I wanted my Ring doorbell notification to be loud. So I’ve been giving focus a crack but it still isn’t right and I’m wondering if anyone had some insight: I thought all of my apps would still provide silent notifications ie. would still vibrate just not make a sound. Unless I marked them as “allow notifications” Is that possible? To have apps such as WhatsApp, Viber etc vibrate when I get a notification but alarms, reminders and calendar events are loud so long as the silent rocker is in the off position? I thought that by selecting allowed contacts their notifications would be loud but others not? What I mean by that is I also put text messages in as allow notifications from, thinking I would only get a ‘loud’ notification from my specified contacts. Is that not the case? Like I want texts from my wife and a few other key contacts to be loud but I want any other messages to be vibrate only. I’m yet to use my phone to play music and have a text notification come through but I’m not sure it won’t interrupt my music if my silent rocker is off.. So yeah anyone got any ideas if I’m doing it wrong? Or am I straight up expecting a deeper level of customisation than is available with focus? Anyways keen to get some insights and hear how you use focus. submitted by /u/yodeez101 [link] [comments]
