My MacBook Pro got stolen and now the thief wants to return it. Should I respond?

For the sake of brevity, I'll get straight to the point and fill in the blanks as they come.

 

My MacBook Pro was stolen last year by a man who worked at a computer repair shop. I was able to remotely erase it and report it stolen. Three weeks ago I got an email from him asking if I want my laptop back and that he knows I changed my number. I didn't respond. Last night I got another email saying he's going to leak my personal data unless I pick it up.

 

Should I respond? Is this a threat?
