Warning! Do not order from Best Buy! They sent me a 3 year old Mac inside a new M4 MBP box, had me send it back, & now are refusing to refund or repla

Made a post a few days ago but my situation has gotten worse, so posting here to warn others.

Bought a new MacBook M4 Pro from Best Buy and when I opened the box I saw a scratch on the laptop and some finger prints which I thought was shoddy QC, but didn’t appreciate what had occurred until I went into the settings after booting the machine and saw it was a 2021 M1 model with 125 cycles on the battery! Only explanation I can think of is that someone bought it previously, swapped the laptop and reapplied the seals and returned to Best Buy (or someone on the inside made the swap). The first photo is the box (and poor pack job which is why I took the photo) before I opened it. Some folks on my first post said it looked like the seals had been reapplied and that the spacing of the box wasn’t right).

So I called BB a week ago and they told me to send it back and created a replacement order to ship me a new one. The day my replacement was supposed to ship / arrive, it gets delayed. Then 2 days later I get the email I posted here. “We have completed our investigation and are unable to provide a refund or replacement. All items on this order that have not already been fulfilled have been cancelled. We encourage you to work with local law enforcement regarding this matter.”

Customer support just puts me on hold to “look into it” and then hang up 10 minutes later. Will file a credit card claim next…

TLDR: Best Buy sent me wrong item in a “sealed” box, took the item back, and now have my money and my item and won’t refund or replace.
