Excluding certain files from Backup

Recommended Posts

I run Windows One Care in Xp. Every month it reminds me to back-up, which I

do, and the process is neat and fuss free. However, from time to time I might

have something large like a movie file or large number of photos which I

don't want backed up to my back-up DVD because the files are so large, and I

usually make separate copies of these things anyway.

Is there some way in which I can select the files I DON"T want backed up

before I start the back-up process?

Grateful for any advice.

Yes, there almost certainly is. Which of the dozens of backup programs

would you like to see the response address?

My advice; read the link below:

Hi - I suggest you try posting this in

microsoft.public.windows.live.onecare.backup for more expert help, as it

isn't a WinXP thing. If you have a hard time finding that group, try using a

news client, such as Forte Agent, Thunderbird, or even Outlook Express,

rather than the pretty clunky web interface to the newsgroups. It's a lot

easier to do nearly everything that way. You can mark messages to be

watched, filter the views so you can see replies to your posts easily, and

search.

The Microsoft public news server is msnews.microsoft.com and you can

subscribe to as many groups as you like; no authentication is required.

My advice: read the posts carefully. The OP is using OneCare. :-)

He is referring to this. I cannot find a picture with examples

of what is buried under each link. Or whether there are exclusions

or not.
