Mac mini m4 for a Photographer

Been a windows user my whole life, and needs to upgrade my 7 year old PC. With the recent release of the m4 mac minis I'm really tempted to move to a mac mini because of the efficiency and the size (I really want a tiny computer that has a small footprint on my desk).

However, I find it very difficult to understand what configuration fits my needs the best, and would like to get some advice.

I'm a photographer, and pretty much the most intense use I get is when I'm editing on LrC and maybe having a few tabs opened in the background. Sometimes I also edit 4k videos on Premier Pro.

My current computer has an intel i7-7700 CPU and 32gb DDR4 1200MHz ram (which, to my understanding, is significantly slower than the ram on the new m4 mac minis)

Currently I'm thinking about the base m4 with 16gb of ram, and maybe upgrading it to 24gb so it could be still fast in the future. Needless to say that I'm not looking to upgrade internal storage as I have enough external SSD's to hold my photos.

From what I've found, and I would be happy to be corrected, buying the M4 Pro chip would only be noticeable when exporting and doing heavy AI/3D editing.

However, I don't really care about export times as I don't have tight deadlines to finish my work, and I can't see myself doing heavy stuff like AI denoise on 8k videos or doing 3D modeling.

All I really care about is a smooth experience without any lags/crashes.

So, what do you think? Does the base m4 with 16gb be enough for me? Should I be upgrading to 24gb to get a few extra years out of it? Or maybe the base m4 isn't enough at all and I need to go for the m4 pro?
