I've read a lot of YouTube comments, reddit posts, etc. and felt a bit overwhelmed and also quite disappointed about the whole topic. Quite a lot of what you read about 4K and Mac makes you think that you have to either get an iMac or a studio display, otherwise you can forget working on a decent sized screen. While doomscrolling, I somehow got to a review of a well known brand im not allowed to talk about here and while checking its price, the company itself had an amazing deal on their website, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Today it arrived and man... its a night and day experience. The most important thing everyone wants to know about is apparently the text clarity. With the Macbook I use a 1440x932 and with the IPS a 2560x1440 scaling, what gives me around the same text size. Everything is sharp and I almost can't tell a difference. Even when I stick my face on the screen. When you go super close, you can see a very mild softness to the letters. In dark mode it feels a little more blurry tho. Reading is amazing on it, compared to my oled where I couldn't finish one sentence without taking a break for my eyes. Next thing I read about was the 1440p scaling and performance issues. I couldn't notice anything on the M3 Air so far. Ive read some posts with issues using blender, engineering software, etc. I only do office stuff, studying and media consumption, so I can't tell anything about it. I also tried some other scaling sizes and all were fine. Overall im super happy with the decision; especially saving a ton of money. Some pictures for comparison.
