Guest /u/snapthebass Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Hi guys. I need help setting up my desk, and after some research i still have some doubts, specially around what KVM to use. So, my hardware setup will look like this: Mac1: MacBook Pro M3 Mac2: not sure which MacBook Pro I will use, but probably same or better than Mac1. Assume same. I have a Dell Monitor with USB-C with power delivery, DP and HDMI, but i'm looking to replace it. I can buy any monitor and peripherals i want. I would like to use the best monitor to pair 2 MacBooks. I'm thinking Studio Display, but i'm not sure if this is the best option to use with a KVM switch. So basically, I want to have 1 monitor, 2 MacBooks Pro M3, 1 webcam (can be integrated in the monitor), 1 keyboard, 1 mouse. I would like to have a monitor in the centre, and a MacBook on each side of the monitor with the lid open so I can check DMs/Email. The monitor at the centre would act as a mirror or extension of Mac1 or Mac2 and i'd use it to get work done. The KVM switch would help me switch between the MacBook screen from Mac1 and Mac2 and would also help me with having a single keyboard and mouse for both Mac's. As for the webcam, i can use the Macbook's webcam, the monitor integrated webcam or a new webcam. If you could advise on which KVM switch, monitor and keyboard+mouse I should use to accomplish this, that would be great. Budget is not a constraint.
